Loaves & Fishes Senior Meal Site

Loaves & Fishes Lunch Program

In partnership with First Immanuel Lutheran Church and Loaves and Fishes, we offer a Senior Lunch Program. Lunch is served 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, at 1816 NW Irving Street. Anyone over the age of 60, regardless of income, is invited to dine. Recipients are encouraged to donate toward the cost of their meals as they are able, but are not turned away for lack of payment.

Northwest Portland Ministries volunteers pick up the meals from Loaves and Fishes' main kitchen downtown and deliver them to the Irving Street location (see map). Our volunteers there set up, assemble and serve lunch, socialize with guests, and clean up afterward. Without these volunteers there would not be a lunch site in Northwest Portland.

A consistent good meal is only one of the benefits of this program. Our neighbors also enjoy the opportunity to socialize with our volunteers and with each other - a valued part of their daily routine. Additionally, community partners often offer a variety of enrichment activities such as movies, bingo and exercise classes before or after lunch is served.

For our neighbors who are unable to attend due to illness, NWPM volunteers support a "Meals on Wheels" delivery route, including dropping off meals at Trinity Place Adult Daycare center.

Over 10,000 nutritious meals are provided each year through these efforts.
