Volunteer Options:
  • Auction Volunteer - Welcome/check-in guests, process donations
  • Emergency Food Pantry (check people in, clean-up, prep, flexible)
  • Volunteer Drivers for seniors and people with disabilities
  • Pick-up and unload food donations
  • Deliver meals in NW and Downtown Portland
  • Drive our min-bus on a recreation trip (coast, summer concerts, nature outings, etc.)
  • Help a neighbor with various household chores
  • Senior Meals: Irving Street Loaves & Fishes (serve, prep, clean)
  • Office Support (flexible, various projects)

Accomplishment and Highlights


• Since December 2007 we have grown from providing 247 people with food to over 800 people with food per month. Portable Pantry and Community Share programs were added this year.

• By providing 14,492 rides, we were able to help elderly adults stay independent.

• 8,377 meals served by 1,970 volunteer hours at Loaves & Fishes Irving Street provided nutritious meals and social activities for seniors.

• Christmas dinner in 2009 hosted at Congregation Beth Israel served 442 meals on site, and 112 home delivered meals. 204 volunteer hours enabled this to happen.
